He discussed the scope of the database and showed some examples of the kinds of insights that it provides regarding the Maya script.
Matthew Looper is Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the California State University, Chico. He received his PhD in Art History at the University of Texas at Austin, and is a specialist on ancient Maya art and writing. He is currently the director of the Maya Hieroglyphic Database Project and is working on transitioning the database into an online format. Along with Martha Macri, he is the co-author of the well-know New Catalog of Maya Hieroglyphs.
