December 11, 2021 Dr. Andrew Munro: “Cosmology and Culture at Chaco Canyon NM.”
A broad survey of the cultural cosmology of Chacoan monumental architecture has been underway since 2007. This survey assesses previously published archaeoastronomy research and looks at sites not previously studied for cosmological associations. This talk summarized new findings derived from field studies conducted under National Park Service and Bureau of Land Management research permits. It also discussed how archaeoastronomy evidence helps to improve our understanding of possible social dynamics among the remarkable Chacoan people.
