The John F. Harris Glyph Group

The Glyph Group will meet next on Saturday April 12 at 10:30 am.

We started work on Kerr Vase 4976, and will continue. If we complete 4976, we will start Kerr 2803. You can find a color photograph of 4976 in The Maya Vase Database at https://research.mayavase.com/kerrmaya_list.php?_allSearch=&hold_search=&x=34&y=8&vase_number=4976&date_added=&ms_number=&sit= Kerr 2803 can be found with a similar search.

You may wish to learn about (or refresh your memory about) the Primary Standard Sequence, (PSS) the dedicatory set of glyphs that circle the upper rim of many Maya vases. You can find a basic introduction to the PSS at: https://mesoamericanstudiesonline.com/2021/07/11/primary-standard-sequence/

A more detailed investigation by David Mora-Marin is available at http://www.famsi.org/reports/02047/FinalReport02047.pdf
