Membership

All meetings of The Pre-Columbian Society at the Penn Museum, both talks and Glyph Group meetings, will continue to be offered online via Zoom.

Membership in The Pre-Columbian Society at the Penn Museum supports the activities of the Society, including honoraria for speakers, publication of The Codex, Zoom account and other relevant expenses.

Effective with the membership year beginning September 2025, annual dues for the Codex-by-email and Codex-on-paper levels of membership will be increased by $5 per year (the Student and Ahau level memberships will remain unchanged).  The new membership tiers will be as follows:

Ahau – $100.  Zoom and Glyph Group access and The Codex in either format, for those that wish to further support our goals and presentation offerings.

Membership with The Codex on paper – $40.  Includes Zoom and Glyph Group access.

Membership with The Codex via email – $35. Includes Zoom and Glyph Group access.

Student Membership – $15 (.edu email required).  Includes Zoom and Glyph Group access, and The Codex via email.

It has been over 10 years since our dues levels were last increased and this is only the third since the formation of the PCS in the early 1980s.  Given the rising costs involved with presenting our programs and publishing The Codex, we believe this nominal increase will more realistically help us to meet the costs of providing our services to our members.  We tried hard to keep the increase to a minimum yet still be able to maintain a satisfactory level of offerings for our members.

We thank you for your continued loyalty to The Pre-Columbian Society, and for your understanding regarding this increase in dues.

Membership is renewable each September. Membership payments are not tax-deductible.

In addition to membership dues, we ask that members who live in or near Philadelphia also become members of the Penn Museum. This provides the member with Museum access and other benefits, and also supports the Museum, which has graciously provided the PCS with facility support and additional services for many years.

A benefit of membership is access to our password-protected webpages The Codex Archives and The Meeting Archives, which provide previous copies of The Codex to download as well as access to those Zoom presentations we have received permission to record. The password will be provided upon initial membership or membership renewal.

New memberships and membership renewals may be made either online or by mailing a membership form with a check to the Society.
