Jorge Perez de Lara: “Mesoamerican Artwork Photography”
He spoke about how the skills he picked up as an advertising photographer– bringing out the best qualities in the subject, such as texture, volume or gloss–were ideal for revealing and interpreting the fascinating and very varied subjects of Mesoamerican artworks.
Jorge Pérez de Lara is a freelance photographer who works for domestic and international institutions, graphic design bureaus, advertising agencies, as well as for direct clients. His photographs of Mayan architecture and artifacts have illustrated such works as Theaters of Conversion: Religious Architecture and Indian Artisans in Colonial Mexico by our friend and former president, the late Sam Egerton. Mister Pérez de Lara has also translated many scholarly articles for Mesoweb.
